Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said on Monday he was ready to host multilateral talks on the conflict in Syria in the Kazakh capital of Astana. Putin said on Friday that Russia, Iran, Turkey and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had all agreed the Kazakh capital should be the venue for new Syrian peace negotiations. Putin also said last week the next step for Syria would be a nationwide ceasefire.

Palestinian political parties Hamas and Fatah will meet in Moscow in January to discuss divisions between them and work the ways of overcoming the current situation.

The Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences will organize a meeting of Palestinian political parties Hamas and Fatah to facilitate the discussion of the perspectives of overcoming the strife between them, Kayed Ghul, a member of Fatah political bureau said.

Russian experts will visit Turkey

Russian expert officials will visit Turkey on January 9-10 to discuss the framework for Syrian peace talks planned to be held in Kazakhstan, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a televised interview with the Turkish news agency. The talks on the settlement of the Syrian armed conflict will begin in Astana, Kazakhstan, on January 23.

International Peace Conference

The French-sponsored international peace conference on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is set to be held in Paris on December 21, Palestine Liberation Organization Secretary General Saeb Erekat said on Wednesday.

While France has not yet issued official invitations to the conference, Erekat nevertheless confirmed the date in an interview and said that the conference will be attended by 70 states.

Saudi King Salman will leave on Saturday for the United Arab Emirates on the first leg of an official tour of the Gulf states that will also take him to Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.

King Salman will arrive in Doha from Abu Dhabi. He will then travel to Manama, leading the Kingdom’s delegation to the 37th summit of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states in the Bahraini capital.

After attending the GCC summit, the King will start a three-day official visit to Kuwait.
